NBA Top Picks 1/13: Grizzlies Stay Red-Hot, Nets Clobber Thunder

I didn't do terrible in my last Top Picks, getting 2 out of my 3 picks correct. My record on the season now stands at 9-2. Today, despite the small 5-game slate, I've got 3 picks for you sports bettors out there. I've just gotten into researching player props, so let's see how that goes. Let's hope we go 3-0 today. Time to dive in.

Bucks' Giannis Antetokounmpo powers through a defender for a bucket.

Giannis Antetokounmpo Over 30.5 points vs Golden State Warriors

Giannis has been on a tear recently, averaging 33.3 PPG in his last 3 games. The Bucks star has scored at least 31 points in 5 of his last 6 contests. He gets bountiful opportunities at the charity stripe, ranking 2nd in FTA on the year and in his past 3 games. Jrue Holiday missing tonight's match against the Warriors will provide Giannis with even more scoring opportunities. Warriors' Draymond Green not suiting up today will remove one of Golden State's best defensive players. The stage is set for Antetokounmpo to have himself a great night. My model predicts that he will score 32 points tonight. Expect Giannis to go bonkers on the scoring end tonight.

Brooklyn Nets -7.0 vs Oklahoma City Thunder

The Brooklyn Nets are coming off an absolute beatdown of the 1st place Chicago Bulls (see the official NBA highlights above). KD scored 27 and Harden dished dimes like usual, racking up 16 while turning the rock over just 2 times. The Thunder have lost 5 straight games, losing by a margin of 11 points on average. The Thunder haven't eclipsed 100 points in 3 of those 5 games, and on the season, are the 3rd worst scoring offense. Despite the Nets' terrible ATS record at home and as a favorite, I believe they can cover what should be a small 7 points (the line opened at 10 and moved this drastically). The Thunder have just been outright terrible and should Kyrie miss tonight, the Nets have shown success even without the star guard this year. Back the Nets.

Memphis Grizzlies vs Minnesota Timberwolves Over 230

These teams are the definition of smoking hot right now. The Grizzlies are averaging a crazy 122 points per game in their past 3 games, and Minnesota is even hotter, averaging an absurd 133.6 PPG in their last 3 contests. Karl-Anthony Towns has found a rhythm, scoring on average 28.3 points in the same period. D'Angelo Russell has double-doubled in each of his past 3 games. Minnesota has found their rhythm offensively and are showing no signs of slowing down. While both teams have been in an offensive groove, they've also been sporting really terrible defenses. Memphis has given up 111.7 PPG in their past 3 contests, while Minnesota has allowed 118.7 in the same time period. The T-Wolves are the best over team in the NBA while on the road, doing so an insane 75% of the time. The high-octane offenses combined with lenient defenses will push the total over.

Thanks for reading everybody. We've got some good games tonight, that Warriors-Bucks game will be one to look out for. Two of the best players in the league will clash and one will come out victorious. If you haven't done so already, please subscribe to my emailing list so you never miss out on an article. Have a good one everybody.
